WHATS ON
From the casual visitor to the hardcore anachronist to a day out for the family, at Sydney's Winterfest Medieval Fair, there is something for everyone!
A timetable for the event will be available soon.
NINJAS
Oh and in case that was not enough for one weekend, there will be ninjas as well. As part of a joint venture with the Bujinkan Sydney Metro Dojos as well as other Bujinkan Dojos in the Sydney area ninjas will be around to help with any information you may need. There will also be traditional Japanese weaponry and ninjutsu displays. Never heard of Togakure Ryu? How about shukko? Ashiko? Kusarigama? Here is the place to go to find out!
AND MUCH MORE
Australian first! The Red Nose Day Tournament!
As a follow-on to Red Nose Day, Re-enactors have come together to raise money in the Red Nose Day Tournament for SIDS and the Childrens Hospital. Fighters and jousting Knights will be in the spirit and donning the 'nose' to fight for honour and the title of Red Nose Champion! You can help, of course, by bringing friends and family, or even sponsor the knights and jousting knights!
Proceeds of sponsors and donations on the day will be all going to the SIDS council through the Red Nose Day appeal.
NSW International Sword tournament:
As part of the worldwide competition, Winterfest will play host to the first of the new International Sword competition, as part of the national selection for an Australian team...
Sparks will fly with competitors vying for the top positions!
Fighting displays far and wide...
From Viking Raiders to Musketeers, Samurai, Knights of valour, Pirates, Adventurers of fortune, all sorts of warriors and swordsmen abound. You'll be able to see the best of historical displays and performances from our re-enactors, and join them at their encampments and learn more about all things in the medieval and ancient world...
STOP THIEF!! Jesters and Vagabonds!
A crooked grin, a cheeky repartee, and a shady disposition... Boys and girls, it's up to you to keep your eyes and ears peeled for the 'Village Thief' of Winterfest!!
In addition, keep an eye out for the meandering magic and tricks of the 'Jester', with laughs and foibles for everyone!
Orion's Consort
A pleasure to listen to in all their forms, you will find Orion's Consort wandering the event, or set up for you to find a comfortable spot and hear the music of ages past.
Playing a variety of instruments, including real horns, bells and lute, the enchanting music they perform add a wonderful part to a great weekend.
